4/20/13 All the baskets at NAD are in the "A" (short) position. The annual meeting of the WSDGA Board of Directors was held today and all current officers were re-elected. Meeting minutes will be sent to members soon. NAD course improvements include maintenance on #11 blue to make is more level and changing the teeboxes on #13. With Herculean effort, the blue teepad was moved to the west to serve as the new red tee. The current red tee is now marked as blue.
4/14/13 West Sound Challenge season is off to a great start! The first and last events are PDGA-sanctioned two rounds, all day tournaments. Players from all around the state come to play our courses. See photos here and on our faceboook page.

9/11/12 Sam reported at the tonight's WSDGA Board meeting that at least $1600 was raised by the West Sound Challenge. The new time slot for Disc Golf Live! on BKAT will be 1st & 3rd Thursdays at 7:00 pm from October to April. Char Burnett will do an interview with John Cohoon and Paul Wright to be aired soon. Thanks to members for course maintenance efforts, including James Pirtle, Barry Fisher, Mike Foster, and Paul Wright. Brian Jacobs says that 20 people are signed up for the Fall Fling so far. Yes, that smell at the Bud was a dead deer. Nature has been taking care of this problem. Yes, number 12 basket at the Fairgrounds is missing. Replacement plans are in the works. Yes, the Zen Open registration is full. Yes, it is time to sign up for the West Sound Championships-Whiners In the Woods III to be held at The Bud Pell @ Ross Farm course on Sunday, September 9th.

5/15/12 Many topics were discussed at today's WSDGA Board of Directors meeting. Course maintenance status and recent player activities were reviewed. This month has already included several events. The World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend, West Sound style, brought out new players and a different kind of competition with the Roc vs. Buzz contest. The Hyzer Farm Open was well attended last weekend. Coming up next is the Acey Deucy fundraiser organized by Brian Jacobs to introduce (and help pay for) the new red tees at the Bud Pell @ Ross Farm course. Promotional opportunities also included disc golf introductions at the Bremerton YMCA and for the Kitsap Medical Society Foundation's annual Family Fun Run. Saturday and Sunday doubles continue at NAD and Fairgrounds. Get out and fling!
4/14/12 First event of the West Sound Challenge was held today at N.A.D. Great turnout! Annual meeting and elections were held at 12:30 pm: President Dan Glynn, Vice President Brian Thornton, Secretary Kenny Benjamin, Treasurer Sam Huff, Board Members Mike Foster, Brian Jacobs, and Cathy Cohoon.
3/09/12 WSDGA Board of Directors has approved Bylaws changes (see right column for document link) and announced that the Annual Meeting and Elections will be held on Saturday, April 14th, 12:30 pm at N.A.D. park. If you are interested in serving as a Board Member or Officer, please review the Bylaws for job descriptions and responsibilities. Dues for 2012 must be paid in order to be eligible to vote.

5/27/11 The WSDGA Board of Directors has made a commitment to buy baskets for the Bud Pell at Ross Farm Disc Golf Course and will be holding two fundraising events on Saturdays, June 18th and June 25th. The next Bag Tag monthly challenge will be held at Van Zee Park in Port Orchard on Saturday, June 4th, 9:00 am check in. Regular weekly doubles are continuing.

5/1/11 The World Biggest Disc Golf Weekend provided an opportunity for disc golfers to share their love of the game with family and friends. Players met at four courses over the weekend: Saturday morning at N.A.D. Park in Bremerton, Saturday afternoon at Fredericksen Wilderness Park in Poulsbo, Sunday morning at the Fairgrounds course in Silverdale, and Sunday afternoon at H.J. Carroll Park in Chimacum. Next special events up --- Wednesday, May 19th, West Sound Senior Games Chili Feed and registration kick off. "Commissioners" for the various sports in the games compete in a chili cooking contest at the Nipsic Senior Center. Cathy makes cornbread to go with my chili concoction! The Senior Games will be held from July 7-10, with the disc golf tournament on Saturday afternoon. This is a great opportunity to introduce our sport to the area's active adults older than 50! Registration includes t-shirt and banquet.

, 11:30 am - 3:00 pm, Kitsap Sun Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. This annual event is sponsored by the Kitsap Medical Society Foundation and is promoted by the local PE teachers. Nearly 700 participants are expected this year! We set up two portable baskets inside the Pavilion and encourage kids and adults to try putting. Talking up the local courses and the game is fun, but we could use some more volunteers. Please remember that we need community involvement and recognition to keep our courses, so your help in this endeavor will be appreciated. Let John Cohoon know if you are available for an hour or two on Sunday afternoon!

8/2/09 Busy summer! Get in on the news by joining the WSDGA to receive e-mail updates. Senior Games and Bremerton Park Department introductory sessions have inspired some newbies. Random doubles have had great participation on Saturday mornings at N.A.D. and Wednesday evenings/Sunday mornings at the Fairgrounds. Road trip to Chimacum's H.J. Carroll park was a blast. Bag Tag Challenges are still underway with Friday evening matches scheduled around the West Sound. Check out the new N.A.D. scorecard on the course page. 6/20/09 Thanks to volunteer labor and membership funds, the Fairgrounds has concrete teepads all the way around! There are now 28 entrants in the Bag Tag Challenge. Regular Friday evening challenges will be scheduled around the West Sound. First up is 5:30 pm at the Fairgrounds on June 26th. Next Board of Directors meeting is set for Friday, July 17th.

5/31/09 The KCMSF 5th Annual Kitsap Family Fun Run was held at the Pavilion. Disc Golf was represented with display information and an active participation opportunity using portable baskets within putting range.

The work continues on our 18 hole Championship Tournament Course at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and Events Center. Nine holes are up and running with concrete tee pads and DGA Mach V baskets. The nine newest holes for the course have been groomed and plans were made to pour concrete pads on Saturday morning, March 28th, 2009. Unfortunately, we were rained out. Rescheduling this project is nearly impossible, because County equipment needed to transport materials is not available. Now we are looking at doing one teepad at a time. Volunteers are needed for this labor intensive job! If you enjoy the teepads at NAD, please consider doing your part to help.
We're still hoping for a grand opening of the course in late May or early June.
